Why use Contract / Interim personnel?

Technical ConstructionIn today’s fast moving world, it’s impossible for businesses to have the best people with the right skills all the time. Contract personnel are a flexible solution to this problem, providing highly experienced people with proven skills. Working on a contract basis they do the job, in the way you want, at the price you can afford and in the time you set. It’s results-oriented and gives you better control of overall costs.

Most companies now utilise contract employees to some degree in a variety of roles from shop floor to board level.

The reasons for deciding to use contract / interim employees are varied and depend on an individual company’s circumstances. But they usually include one or more of the following:

  • the need to replace temporary absences of key employees (either planned or unexpected)

  • increased demand resulting from peak or seasonal work loads

  • the need to expand quickly without incurring the time penalties and high fixed costs of permanent recruitment

  • vital ‘one-off’ projects where the time and costs to assemble or acquire the relevant expertise are not justified

  • special projects requiring specific skills or management experience not normally available in house – particularly those driven by changes in legislation, rationalisation, training or IT.

QADS personnel are highly qualified with proven skills and a broad range of experience.

Clients benefit from the savings in the time and stress normally required to fill employee gaps. You gain from better control over the size of your payroll and by avoiding premium costs for specialist skills that may not fit your existing salary structure. If the employee or job doesn’t work out, it’s easy to change your mind. There are no career or termination obligations, you can save on absence or sick pay as well as overtime premiums.

Our databases...

QADS maintains extensive computerised databases of proven individuals who are interested in either permanent or contract / interim assignments. Our system can efficiently cross index industry sectors and on-the-job experience so that we can rapidly identify the people who match a client’s specific requirements. This rapid search and analysis means the relevant c.v.’s can be on a client’s desk within a day or two of receipt of the enquiry. We regularly advertise in national and international media both to fill specific positions as well as to ensure our database is kept up to date.

In urgent situations, we can fax or e-mail details the same day.

Potential applicants are carefully screened before adding them to our database – we only include those who have proven capability in their field of expertise. We will normally check candidate availability and interest before recommending them to you, as well as verifying references at the time of any job offer. We either work with the client to arrange interviews or we carry out initial candidate interviews to produce a short list and will then arrange final interviews with the client.

In the rare cases where we do not have suitable candidates available from our database, we will agree with the client alternative recruitment methods such as web sites, press advertising etc. We can also undertake the complete search and select process for clients who so wish, with any advertising simply invoiced at cost.

How we operate...

Permanent Employment

Once the client has interviewed and selected a QADS candidate, we will assist as required with any final negotiations on terms and salary and checking references. When a start date has been agreed, we will then invoice the client our agreed fee. We work strictly on a payment by results basis. Unless otherwise agreed, no fee is charged without a satisfactory appointment being made. We also operate a fee rebate scheme if the employee leaves prematurely - see QADS terms & conditions for details.

Contract Work

Once the client has interviewed and selected a candidate, we will set up either a contract of employment (for an individual) or a service contract (where the candidate operates as a limited company). Individuals are employed directly by QADS and seconded to the client at whichever location is required for the duration of the contract. The terms of the assignment are set wholly by the client – duties, rate of pay, hours and place of work etc. QADS then does all the necessary administration. We make all agreed payments, including any applicable PAYE and NI deductions. We carry out all relevant taxation reporting and even reimburse approved expenses if necessary. Any future amendments to the original contract terms and conditions, change of hours, pay rate, location etc. are also handled by us. We simply submit a monthly invoice covering our disbursements and agreed fee.

We provide clients with a complete ‘turn-key’ contract service.

Your Investment

Successful recruitment requires both the client and QADS to invest time and money. We recognise the importance of this partnership and will do everything we can to build a genuine relationship that achieves cost effective results.

We work strictly on a payment by results basis so no fee is normally charged unless a satisfactory appointment is made.

The charges for our services are:

Contract / Interim

Our standard fee is 15%, calculated on the monthly total of gross salary plus any employer’s NIC. Since the salary is negotiated directly by the client, our fee can be taken into account during the salary negations. There are no search fees, advertising costs and no charge is made to the employee for our service. Also no additional charges are made for handling the reimbursement of any approved employee expenses. We have a sliding scale discount for volume business / multiple assignments - contact QADS for details.

Permanent

For those appointments where the individual is to be directly employed by the client, a fee of 15-20% of the first year’s salary is charged. Our fee depends on whether the candidate is sourced from our database or through a search & select process and the amount of QADS overall involvement in the interview and recruitment process. Fee levels are discussed and agreed beforehand with the client. We guarantee a no cost replacement or refund of fees in the event that our candidate leaves prematurely

Charges are subject to applicable VAT.

No charges are made to the candidates on our databases for any of our services
